Towers of Midnight [Jun. 2nd, 2010|11:52 pm]
[mood |giddygiddy]

That is the title of Wheel of Time book 13 by Robert Jordan (deceased) and Brandon Sanderson.  It is also the book in which I've been told that a man with a black coat will be named after me.  Obviously I have no clue under what circumstances I will appear, or how close the character's name will be to my own, but it's still really cool.  I don't know if I'll be a full Asha'man or in training.  I don't know what faction I'll be fighting for.  So many interesting things.  I do know that it will be the first book I buy two copies of, other than Robin Hobb's The Farseers Trilogy.  I sure hope I can get it signed.

Blame Jeff, This is his fault [Feb. 5th, 2010|01:17 am]
[mood |tiredtired]

What was the #1 song the day you were born?  Google the date and #1 song and then post your #1 song on your LJ - preferably with a Youtube vid if you can find one!

Mine is Irene Cara - What a Feeling (from Flashdance).  That's so ironic, considering the fact that it was just a week or two ago I hear the song on the radio and wanted to find out what the heck it was called.  Video Below.

Need some help [Jul. 15th, 2009|12:58 pm]
[mood |hopefulhopeful]

I just entered Telltale Games contest to write a humorous line for Tales of Monkey Island's final episode. I would really appreciate it if you'd go here and vote for my entry. The winner will be get credit in the game as a writer, which would give me my first game credit and help me greatly in my attempts to get into the industry.

Here's how the contest works:
Fans have between now and August 10th to submit short line about how Guybrush done them wrong at the Game Designer for a Day contest page. Entries are then voted for by fans, with the top vote getter each week eligible to win the grand prize - infamy! The winning entry will have their line voiced by Telltale talent, and score a game writing credit in the process.

For those who want to know what my line is: "Unbelievable! All I’ve ever wanted to do was raise sheep, but he thought I was giving him a gift! He had lamp chops and even used the wool to make hat! Guybrush Threepwood? No. More like Foodrush Sheephood!"

If you'd like to help, please vote for me.  In addition, if you would be willing to pass that link on it would help.

Extremely Long Time...No Post [Aug. 11th, 2008|12:00 am]
[mood |contemplativecontemplative]

Who knows how many people still read what everyone writes, but I know I keep up to date with everyone who posts.  I'm very sorry I've been so quiet for the past couple years.

I've been enrolled in a year-round program for the past 3 years getting my BA in Game Arts & Design.  I finished in July, graduated with a 3.61 GPA (cum laude) and around $80,000 in college loan debt.  Huzzah for all of that.  During this time I was also working at the college, but that job evaporated once I graduated, so now I'm on the hunt for a real job.  I have a few prospects, but not many.  Most jobs in the industry want prior experience which I obviously don't have yet.  I'm not terribly worried, since I'm sure I'll have no problem getting a job in QA if needed, but I'd like to get something in the 40K per year range and not something in the 23K per year range.

I have a website up, but it isn't complete yet.  I have much work to do on it, but I won't start on that until I get a job.  If you want to check it out and see a few pieces of work I did over the past couple of years, feel free.  I also uploaded a bunch of the video work I did to youtube, so you can check that out as well.

What else did I do since I've last posted...

I flew to Las Vegas for an Unreal Tournament 2004 clan meet up and met several people I'd played with for years.  I flew up to Seattle for a tour of Valve Software, where I got to help playtest Team Fortress 2's Goldrush map before it was released and give feedback on two of their "Meet The" videos as well.  I applied for a job at Blizzard, but they wanted someone who could work right away, and I was hoping to get one after graduation, so it didn't work out.  Oh well, maybe next time.  Doing that got me into WoW.  I'm far from hardcore, but I play occassionally.  You can find me on my Blood Elf Mage, Alirayn, on Frostmane if you'd like.  I also still play Maple Story with a level 98 Priest, GuruHamm, on Scania.

I have a Wii, a PS3, and an Xbox 360...so if you have any of these I'm willing to trade info with you (but I don't want to post that publicly).  Since the Wii also has annoying friend codes, I have Super Smash Bros Brawl & Mario Kart Wii on the multiplayer front.

Well, anything else you want to know, or if I seem to have left out something, feel free to reply.  I'm hoping to be more active around here now.

Quizes are easy to post, so they get posted [Feb. 20th, 2007|12:41 pm]

, you're now logged in!

Below you'll find your test result. After, continue on to your
homescreen to discover what we're about.

Very Well-Rounded

You have:

The graph on the right represents your place in Intuition 2-Space. As you can see, you scored above average on emotional intuition and above average on scientific intuition. (Weirdly, your emotional and scientific intuitions are equally strong.)

Your Emotional Intuition score is a measure of how well you understand people, especially their unspoken needs and sympathies. A high score score usually indicates social grace and persuasiveness. A low score usually means you're good at Quake.

Your Scientific Intuition score tells you how in tune you are with the world around you; how well you understand your physical and intellectual environment. People with high scores here are apt to succeed in business and, of course, the sciences.

Something I stole from Jowee [Sep. 5th, 2006|11:23 pm]
[mood |sleepysleepy]
[music |Falcom Sound Team JDK - Illburns Ruins (Ys - The Oath in Felghana Original Soundtrack Disc 1)]

seemed interesting...and it's so much easier than figuring out what's going on in my life. Of course, 3 were missing from the Wrath column, one from Gluttony, and one from Lust, so I googled the text and found the missing ones. The only problem is that Lust doesn't match up at all. Even though every other one does. So I just picked one to answer.

1. Who did you last get angry with?
2. What is your weapon of choice?
I'd like to say staff, but I'm dismal with it. Much better to have a rapier.
3. Would you hit a member of the opposite sex?
Not unless there was some strange circumstance.
4. How about of the same sex?
If needed.
5. Who was the last person who got really angry at you?
Angry at me? Uh, my photoshop teacher.
6. What is your pet peeve?
Stupid people.
7. Do you keep grudges, or can you let them go easily?
I tend to let them go, but I do remember the past and it can change things at times.

1. What is one thing you're supposed to do daily that you haven't done in a long time?
Anything I don't find enjoyable? exercise, eat right, etc.
2. What is the latest you've ever woken up?
Probably around 1 PM.
3. Name a person you've been meaning to contact, but havent.
Several people that I've fallen out of contact with, the problem being that I no longer have the ability to. Heather, a childhood friend of mine, being one such.
4. What is the last lame excuse you made?
That I was too busy to do something, when I was playing a game at the time.
5. Have you ever watched an infomercial all the way through?
Yes, but only because I couldn't sleep and thought it would help.
6. When was the last time you got a good workout in?
Probably about a year ago.
7. How many times did you hit the snooze button on your alarm clock today?
I have never in my life hit the snooze button.

1. What is your overpriced yuppie beverage of choice?
2. Meat eaters?
Is there any other way to be. Of course I eat meat.
3. What is the greatest amount of alcohol you've had in one sitting/outing/event?
Sad as it makes me to fail at a gluttony question, the answer is none. I don't drink.
4. Have you ever used a professional diet company?
heck no. that'd mean I wanted to lose weight, which I don't really.
5. Do you have an issue with your weight?
No, I'm perfectly happy being overweight.
6. Do you prefer sweets, salty foods, or spicy foods?
Salty and spicy.
7. Have you ever looked at a small house pet or child and thought, "lunch"?
Not seriously, but jokingly, yes.

1. How many credit cards do you own?
If gas cards count, 3, if not, 1.
2. What's your guilty pleasure store?
Uh...Best Buy?
3. If you had $1 million, what would you do with it?
Honestly, I'd probably pay off my student loans, put aside enough to pay for college, get a few things I've been wanted, then invest the rest.
4. Would you rather be rich, or famous?
5. Would you accept a boring job if it meant you would make megabucks?
Depends. If it gave me enough time to pursue my passions in off time, then maybe.
6. Have you ever stolen anything?
Yes, once. From my mom. Got caught. Didn't do it again.
7. How many MP3s are on your hard drive?
Overflow error, can't compute.

1. What's one thing you have done that you're most proud of?
My 4.0s at Mt. Sierra.
2. What's one thing you have done that your parents are most proud of?
Probably the same thing.
3. What thing would you like to accomplish later in your life?
Are we dreaming big? Then I want to be the American version of Shigeru Miyamoto. I want to be universally respected by the video game industry as an innovator.
4. Do you get annoyed by coming in second place?
Not if I was beaten fairly.
5. Have you ever entered a contest of skill, knowing you were of much higher skill than the other competitors?
Hah, many times.
6. Have you ever cheated on something to get a higher score?
7. What did you do today that you're proud of?
Not much. Today really wasn't a good day.

1. Do you like/love someone right now?
Not currently, no.
2. When was the last time you kissed someone?
Hate this question. There is no answer for this.
3. How many people have you kissed?
4. How many ex's do you still talk to?
I have no ex.
5. How many people have you seen naked?
Outside of porn, none.
6. Do you watch porn?
Every once in a while. I don't even have a porn collection.
7. So, how about that virginity?
Intact. At the rate I do things, that'll last a while.

1. What item of your friend's would you most want to have for your own?
Out of everything, I think I'd most like to have an iPod.
2. Who would you want to go on "trading spaces" with?
Bill Gates?
3. If you could be anyone else in the world, who would you be?
Anyone at all? I'd actually like to be one of those savants who are actually highly functional. To have a mind like that would be amazing.
4. Have you ever been cheated on?
Hard to be cheated on when you've never had a relationship.
5. Have you ever wished you had a physical feature different from your own?
Sometimes, but I'm not too hung up on it.
6. What inborn trait do you see in others that you wish you had for yourself?
Motivation. I lack it.
7. Do you wish you'd come up with this survey?

Oh, Gluttony or Sloth. Both are pretty good.

woot, I'm programming. [Aug. 16th, 2006|11:09 pm]

What obsolete skill are you?

You are 'programming in QBASIC'. This programming language (of which the acronym stands for 'Quick Beginners' All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code'), which is so primitive that it cannot easily be used for any purpose involving the Internet nor even sound, was current more than a decade ago.You are independent, in a good way. When something which you need cannot be found, you make it yourself. In writing and in talking with people, you value clarity and precision; your friends may not realize how important that is. When necessary, you are prepared to be a mediator in conflicts between your friends. You are very rational, and you think of things in terms of logic and common sense. Unfortunately, your emotionally unstable friends may be put off by your devotion to logic; they may even accuse you of pedantry and insensitivity. Your problem is that programming in QBASIC has been obsolete for a long time.
